Individuals that police officers determine were in possession of marijuana with the intention of distributing it may automatically be charged with a felony.
Those who are convicted of possession with the intent to distribute between 10 lbs and 50 lbs of the drug face 39 months in prison. They may also be ordered to pay as much as $5,000 in fines. Someone who is found guilty of possession of between 50 lbs to 2,000 lbs of the drug may be assessed up to $25,000 and be required to spend up to 51 months in prison.
Anyone who is convicted of possessing between 2,000 lbs to 10,000 lbs of the illegal substance may be sentenced to 93 months in prison. They may also be ordered to pay $50,000 in fines.
